According to the United Nations World Population prospects, Africa has the world's largest youth population. Almost 60% of Africa's population is under the age of 25. This can produce a potential formidable future global workforce if these economies seize opportunities to train them to be STEM professionals. However, at present Nigeria alone has the world's largest number of out-of-school children (1 out of every 5). What are the opportunities and challenges to providing STEM Education in Africa? This panel will discuss them, as well as what education technology companies in Africa are doing to disrupt the education system in Africa to give access to opportunities for the future workforce to learn, be trained, and be part of the global tech workforce.
